Local weather authorities are watching a tropical depression that is stirring up in the Gulf of Mexico, and the computer models are anticipating that it is heading for the Texas coast. While forecasts are still very preliminary, current activity suggests that the swath of coastline from Corpus Christi to Galveston will be affected, and all the counties at the coast and just inland might be seeing anywhere from 1 to 6 inches of rain from it.
The recent downpours, which are expected to continue for the rest of this week, mean that we have saturated ground conditions. Whether this storm system in the gulf develops into a major wind storm or just drops a lot more rain, we urge all of our customers to err on the side of caution and make sure that data and hardware are secured.
Protect your computer system and data by taking care of the following three actions:
- Backup your data. Take care of this before you leave your desk each evening. Backups need to be offsite.
- Get it off the ground. If you have computer hardware that you normally keep on the floor, put it up on a table.
- Unplug. To the extent that you are able to shut down and unplug, protect your system from power outages and power surges.
If there is any way that we can help you, call us or email us. We are here to help you keep your data protected and secure.
Be safe!
